The Virginia Tech Writing Center is a free service for all Virginia Tech students, faculty, and staff, at all levels. We also are happy to assist Language and Culture Institute students, VT alumni, and area high school students. We're located in Newman Library's second floor Learning Commons, just past the elevators.
We work with writing and reading assignments from any course in the University. We can also help you with writing projects that are not linked to classes.
While we try to accommodate walk-in sessions when possible, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment.
Call us at (540) 231-5436 to schedule your session! For other inquiries, email us at email@example.com.
The Writing Center is now open Sunday evenings, 7:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m., for 30-minute appointments. Please call the Writing Center to request an appointment.
Do you need some support with writing your thesis, dissertation, journal articles, and more? Would you like some help finding other graduate students to form a writing support group? The Writing Center and the Graduate School are now facilitating the forming of writing support groups. Attend an information session to learn how a writing group may help you stay on task, how to become a member of a writing group, and other techniques that may help you along the way.
Can't make it to the above dates? Check this page again soon—additional information sessions will be offered in the beginning of the spring semester.
For clients wishing to work on specialized translation issues, you can now make an appointment with our bilingual writing center coach, Qian Wang.
A native Chinese speaker, Qian can help you with your English to Chinese and Chinese to English writing. She is available on Sundays, 7 p.m.–10 p.m., at the Virginia Tech Writing Center in Newman Library's second-floor Learning Commons. Please call the Writing Center to request an appointment with Qian.
We are located in the Learning Commons, 2nd floor Newman Library.
For an appointment, stop by or call (540) 231-5436 during open hours.
