Summer hours

Due to renovations, we will be holding summer support hours on the 2nd floor of the Newman Library by the reference desk. Check schedule for available dates and times.

The Virginia Tech Writing Center is a free service for all Virginia Tech students, faculty, and staff, at all levels. We also are happy to assist Language and Culture Institute students, VT alumni, and area high school students. We're located in Newman Library's second floor Learning Commons, just past the elevators.

We work with writing and reading assignments from any course in the University. We can also help you with writing projects that are not linked to classes.

While we try to accommodate walk-in sessions when possible, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment.

Register online to schedule your session! For other inquiries, email us at writingcenter@vt.edu or call us at (540) 231-5436.

Writing Center coach Nneoma Nwankwo

Writing Center coach Nneoma Nwankwo named VT Undergraduate of the Year

Among her many accomplishments, Nneoma has done undergraduate research on working with English Language Learners in the Center. She and Katlyn Econom (class of 2015) created a video featuring that work and presented at the Southeast Writing Centers Association conference in 2013. Read the full announcement in VT News.

Last year, her thoughts about being an international student in an American writing center were published on the Writing Lab Newsletter blog.

In addition to coaching in the Writing Center, Nneoma leads the French conversation group on Wednesday afternoons from 4-5.

Congratulations to Nneoma!
