Main Content

The Virginia Tech Writing Center is a free service for all Virginia Tech students, faculty, and staff, at all levels. We also are happy to assist Language and Culture Institute students, VT alumni, and area high school students. We're located in Newman Library's second floor Learning Commons, just past the elevators.

We work with writing and reading assignments from any course in the University. We can also help you with writing projects that are not linked to classes.

While we try to accommodate walk-in sessions when possible, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment.

Call us at (540) 231-5436 to schedule your session! For other inquiries, email us at

The Writing Center and the Graduate School are now facilitating the forming of writing support groups. Attend an information session to learn how a writing group may help you stay on task, how to become a member of a writing group, and other techniques that may help you along the way.

Writing Center Information Sessions on Forming Writing Support Groups

  • Thursday, December 3, 12:00–1:30, GLC Room F
  • Friday, December 4, 1:00–2:30, GLC Room D

Can't make it to the above dates? Check this page again soon—additional information sessions will be offered in the beginning of the spring semester.
